Middleburg Academy will be hosting a weekend STEAM competition on April 1-2 this year. All Middle School students are welcome to come and test their creative energy and be part of establishing a legacy at Middleburg Academy; building a Rube Goldberg Machine in the science hallway.

Alan Salacain '17 participated in the US. Short Track Junior Championships, in Midland, MI in December. He achieved personal records in all the distances, and two of his team mates made the the US Junior team. Pictured here (#70) skating in the 1000m quarterfinal, in this race he attained his AmCup time, making him eligible to participate in the America’s Cup Racing Series, the platform that picks the National team.
Middleburg Academy launched its first Model UN Club program this fall. The group plans to participate in Model UN competitions hosted by colleges and universities like Georgetown and the University of Virginia. After several preparatory meetings with Faculty Advisor, Matt LaMotte, and Student Assistant, Saki Vellanki, 15 students travelled to the Pan American Health Organization building near George Washington University and attended a Model UN Training Conference.
Last weekend, the Middleburg Academy Boys Basketball Team participated in the Tenth Annual Flint Hill Classic. On Friday, December 4, they faced Liberty Christian in the first round action and won by a score of 65-44. The win put Middleburg Academy in the championship game for the second straight year.
The Middleburg Academy Swim Team participated in the Seaton Ice Breaker Invitational at Central Park Aquatic Center this past Friday, December 4th against 5 local independant schools: Seton, Randolph-Macon Academy, Highland, Trinity Christian, and Wakefield. The nine Academy swimmers competed in total of 12 events, and placed top ten in three.

The Girls Varsity Volleyball team defeated St. Margaret's School in the quarterfinal game of the VISAA State Championship today! The semifinal game will be on Nov 13 in Petersburg, VA.
Recently, five Middleburg Academy students volunteered their Wednesday morning to help serve the local community at Seven Loaves in downtown Middleburg.

John Kavanagh, former FBI Senior Executive Special Agent and a Senior Fellow at the George Washington University College of Professional Studies, spoke about the history of counter-terrorism and cyber security at Tuesday's school assembly.
