Karen Olgren / Biology Teacher


Karen is an experienced high school biology and math teacher. She is passionate about teaching science so that learning about the natural world is fun and motivating… where scientific principles and discovery are cultivated. She enjoys building relationships with her students so that all learners are engaged and success is optimized. Karen is a graduate of the University of Colorado, summa cum laude, with a degree in Biology, and her graduate work focused on Science Education Curriculum and Instruction. Her awards for Excellence in Teaching include the Virginia Governor’s Schools Outstanding Educator Award and Loudoun County Teacher of Excellence Awards.  

Every year, along with her husband, she maintains an extensive garden of vegetables, fruits, and herbs on their farm. As a Loudoun County Master Gardener, she earned the United States Presidential Service Award. Karen embraces the importance of working in harmony with nature as an avid gardener, horsewoman, and beekeeper.
