MEET OUR COACH
HEAD COACH JOE PHILOGENE
Coach Joe “Coach Phil” Philogene has been working for the government over the past 7 years, with numerous deployments. Through the deployments, Coach Phil has been to over 15 countries over the past 3 years serving his country. This has given Coach Phil the opportunity to also see tennis from a different perspective. Coach Phil is married to Erin E. Philogene and they have a daughter, Viera, and son, Eroe.
Tennis started for Coach Phil at the early age of four. Coach Phil was born in New York, but raised in Haiti where he started playing tennis. Having entered numerous tournaments, Coach Phil was top-three in his age group early on. The move to Montreal in the early 2000s brought him to coach privately and enter local tournaments. He has continued coaching privately here in Northern Virginia as well, and he is looking to help grow the tennis program here at Middleburg Academy.
Coach Phil likes to make a point to connect with every student on the team and their parents, paying attention to their emotional, physical and social wellbeing. Guiding these students as their leader is where Coach Phil would like to hang his hat.
