The Annual Fund is essential to the operation of our School. It is an actual line item in the school’s budget, which means your gift directly supports everything that occurs on campus. These vital, unrestricted dollars support each and every student by bridging the gap between tuition revenue and the actual cost of providing a Middleburg Academy education. Each year, all members of the school community – trustees, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends – are asked to support the students, and school’s overall programs, with a gift to the Annual Fund. Your participation at any level helps us send a strong message to the community-at-large about the level of commitment to and enthusiasm for our programs and offerings from those who know us best. An unrestricted gift to the Annual Fund allows our school to meet its goals and direct your money where it is most needed.
A gift to the Annual Fund helps our school support these important priorities:
OUR TALENTED AND DEDICATED FACULTY
Middleburg Academy’s faculty is an impressive group of committed professionals. Dedicated to the art of teaching and the education of young people, they serve as mentors, role models, and coaches. The faculty is the lifeblood of the school and our greatest asset.
A DIVERSE STUDENT BODY
We believe that the richest education takes place in an environment that recognizes and celebrates diversity. To attract and assist qualified students from diverse social, economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, our school provides financial aid to a significant portion of the student body.
A UNIQUE AND CHALLENGING PROGRAM
Our liberal arts curriculum prepares students for college success and lifelong learning through mastery of independent study habits and critical thinking. Its primary components - academics, fine arts and athletics - provide an unparalleled education at the secondary level.
It is vitally important that your family participates in the Annual Giving Program, no matter what the amount. In addition to helping to bridge the financial gap between tuition and the operating budget, one hundred percent participation by our families greatly improves Middleburg Academy’s ability to obtain funding from foundations, corporations, and other outside funding sources. While it may seem like tuition should cover all expenses, it does not.
Your gift will make a marked difference and we hope we can count on your participation!
The Cost of a Middleburg Academy Education (per student) $ 23,430
2011-2012 Tuition $(20,370)
The Gap between Cost and Full Tuition $ 3,060
By helping to fill this gap in the form of a tax-deductible donation, your family receives the tax benefit that comes with contributing to a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation. If you have any questions, please contact Cindy Fenton, Director of Development, at 540-687-5581, ext. 3033 or via email at
