Homecoming & Reunions

It’s great to stay in touch or reconnect with classmates via Facebook, emails and phone calls.  But every five years or so it’s even better to see them in person!  Thinking of planning a little get together, or maybe a full blown reunion?  We’d be happy to assist you.  This year the classes of 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002, and 2007 are celebrating reunions.

The two best times to plan a reunion are Homecoming Weekend, October 8 and 9, and the weekend of the school’s annual gala & auction, April 28 and 29.  Both weekends ensure a whole host of activities and fun things to do on campus.  If you come to campus in October, you can be a spectator during “couchfest” and cheer on the Girls Varsity Volleyball and the Boys Varsity Soccer teams as they compete on Friday afternoon.  Afterwards, join us for a Barbecue on the lawn of Mary House.  Mary House is the perfect setting for an alumni gathering Friday or Saturday evening.  Let us help you and your classmates by providing class lists, sending invitations, and planning the event.  In addition, we can provide you with recommendations for weekend accommodations and dining, as well as a list of other events happening in the area.

If you’d prefer a spring event, the weekend of the gala & auction is a perfect time.  Last year’s event, The Great Gatsby Gala & Auction, took place on a beautiful April evening with record setting attendance.  Three hundred people enjoyed jazz, dinner, a silent and live auction, and dancing on the Mary House Lawn.  An elegant white tent was up and so were spirits as friends and family came together to celebrate and strengthen our school’s future.  This year’s auction, Night of the Dragon, has an Asian influence, and is scheduled for Saturday, April 28.

Our most recent reunion was the sixth Annual Alumni Lacrosse Game held in August.

Coach Rob Horne writes:
"It was a huge success!  We had 24 Alums and former coaches return, as well as probably another dozen Alumni up on the Hill.  In addition, a number of families came back and enjoyed the festivities.  We had players from the Classes of 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and our newest graduates attend and play in the event.  Superstars Matt Miller (Class of 2009, Notre Dame), Devin Pinkston (Class of 2007, Presbyterian), and Will Fields (Class of 2008, Navy) set foot on Thomas Porter Field again and played great lacrosse!  Justin Porter, Class of 2005, wins the prize for traveling the greatest distance for the event, trekking from Atlanta to join the game.  The Alumni/Coaches team defeated the Young Bucks by a few, but the competition was stiff.  I was really proud of the current Dragons for their effort and intensity on the field!   Overall, it was one of the very best days of my year!"
