THE SCHOOL
Loudoun County, Virginia’s only independent, coeducational, college preparatory high school.  A learning community that emphasizes individual attention; mutual respect and kindness; and outstanding academic challenge and achievement.  Founded in 1965 as Notre Dame Academy, it has since evolved into a fully independent day school that became Middleburg Academy in 2010.

COLLEGE PLACEMENT
100% college acceptance, including such selective colleges and universities as Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Yale, Georgetown, Juilliard, Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame, Tufts, United States Naval Academy, Vanderbilt, the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, William & Mary, and James Madison.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
Challenging, liberal arts curriculum prepares students for college success and lifelong learning through mastery of independent study habits and critical thinking.  Students win national, state, and regional academic and arts competitions, are selected for the Virginia Governor’s Schools, are named National Merit Scholars, and arrive at college having already earned credit through our unique Dual Enrollment Program.  They also excel on SAT exams, and all graduates attend college. 

THE FACULTY
86% hold advanced degrees, and of those, 31% are doctorates.  Approximately 60% are certified to teach college level courses, through the College Board as Advanced Placement (AP) course teachers and/or through the Virginia public university system to teach our on-campus Dual Enrollment (DE) classes.

THE STUDENT BODY 
A dynamic and diverse community of students: many are from the immediate Middleburg-Purcellville-Leesburg areas of Loudoun County; others come from a surrounding 20-30 mile radius including Clarke, Fairfax, Fauquier, Frederick and Prince William counties, as well as the independent City of Winchester. Ten percent are international (primarily Asian); 26% are students of color.  

ADMISSION 
Admission to Middleburg Academy is selective and based on previous grades (typically a B average or higher), standardized test scores (SSAT), school and teacher recommendations, student application and essay, parent statement, and student and parent interviews.  Click here to request further information or to schedule your visit.
